I have to interrupt my review of past activities to let you know that I finally did it: I created an alt on a second account. I guess I just wanted to be one of the cool kids!
Yesterday, I signed up for a second account, taking advantage of the 3 months for the price of 2 offer that CCP is running now. I created a new Caldari capsuleer named Tel Radic. Tel is busy running through the storyline missions for each of the professions and getting trained up on basic skills. My goal is to have him ready to fly a Badger Mark II by this evening so he can at least be a hauler alt. Other than that, I'm not sure exactly what this toon's function is going to be, so I'm open to suggestion.
So, readers: here is the question: Now that I have a second character, what the heck should I do with him?!

ReplyDeleteI have done this several times, and throughout the years, I have sold the toons I made on my second accounts (minus this one).
Question 1 - Do you plan on keeping this account active for a long time?
If yes, then fill your boots! Do what you wish.
If no, perhaps look for a character build that can do one or two things REALLY well, train those skills, and then transfer that character to your main account.
Some ideas could be a support character like a freighter pilot, trader, Mission runner (T1 BS, or drake etc... low skill requirements etc., but it will open up your main to perhaps new avenues), an maxed T1 frigate PVP toon and with it join Red Vs Blue, Faction warfare, or a pirate outfit.
Those short term goals make fun characters that can easily be used when no further training is required, unlike having a capital ship pilot that requires an endless amount of skills to pilot correctly.
Question 2 - Do you dual screen/box?
If yes, you could go into WHs, level 5s or "solo" pvping with your 2 toons?

ReplyDeleteI need a second account to be able to alt-tab into my trading alt between shooting at internet spaceships but the trading alt is fully trained. (Okay, i use Red Frog for all the hauling, so fully trained means Accounting and Broker Relations to 5 ^^)
ReplyDeleteI thus use that account only to train usefull specialised characters which i later sell to get the ISK for buying Plex. Works surprisingly good, often you can even sell a well trained specialist for more than the PLEX did cost to train him.
