Share your most embarassing ship loss

Hey, I just shared my most embarassing ship loss. I'd love to hear some of your embarassing ship losses. Perhaps it will make me feel better to know I'm not the only one who has lost a ship in an embarassing manner.

Please leave a comment to this post with your story.

  1. i did almost the same thing, i was running lvl 3s in a navy apoc, minimal tank, mostly gank (2 heat sinks, 2 tracking enhancers). i was on some mission, go kill the starbase and grab the loot and warp off. i did the same thing you did, hit it from long range and i got aggro, the 2 fleets were closing in on me and the cruise missiles started tearing me up, i was stuck between MWDing to the cargo or warping out, too late i deactivated my MWD to warp away. after going like 900m/s the wrong way, it takes a BS a LONG time to turn around to warp out, i sat for about 30 seconds watching my structure die slowly as my stupid ship decelerated and turned, and then exploded.

  3. I don't believe in any loss being embarrassing, making mistakes is a very effective way to learn things. My PVE losses are almost all to blame on biting off more than I can chew. It is however a bit silly to die in nulsec to mission rats while you've put a lot of effort in dodging the locals.

To make you feel better, here is a PVP lossmail that cracks me up every time I look at it: http://ghostfestival.net/killboard/?a=kill_detail&kll_id=2645. I'll let you guess why :)

  5. PudTugger’s Most Embarrassing Ship Loss:

A month or so ago I had my first experience with the whole low-sec PvP scene. I was missioning in 0.2 (I KNOW….I was BORED) in my Caracal. Saw some cats pop up on local, and I was keeping my eye on them. Finished with the mission and brought out my Catalyst to clean up the mess, when I started seeing requests for help from one of the dudes in local. To include a fleet request. I had JUST heard about this tactic used by griefers, and declined the fleet. I told him I’d help once I was done with what I was doing. (Yeah right) His request turned into a Cruiser 1v1 request. No thanks. Well, I was new and didn’t know what ‘scan down’ even MEANS, let alone how to recognize it. They landed on top of me and popped the Catalyst as I panicked. Crap. (Wait, that’s not the embarrassing part)

After a bit more chat while docking up in my pod, I decline another Cruiser 1v1 request. I counter-offer with a Frigate 1v1 request against their most junior guy. (there are three of them). Agreed.
Woot! I win handily against the guy with a noob fit/resist Rifter. Hooray for me!
Next guy offers a rematch against him, and I say sure. (Kind of a rush, let’s do it again!)
While the guy I fought and the guy I’m GOING to fight warp out to fit new ships, the third chap toys around with me in his Interceptor. He outruns my targeting and slaps me around enough that I have to go armor rep in station. Dick.
Other guys are back again, and fight is on. This one’s going good, too. (Wait for it….)
New adversary is faster (I forget what he was flying) and apparently jamming a bit as I lose lock. Well, in my haste to re-lock him and engage, I lock one of his BUDDIES that’s watching instead, and they ALL jump into the fight while screaming at me in local. (POP goes my nifty little Rifter that I was actually starting to feel good about). I had NO IDEA that I had targeted/fired on someone else.

    Enter: Embarrassing ship loss.

But: The PvP was exciting! I OWNED the first guy, and was holding my own with the second guy! Both of whom were much older toons than me.

Too bad it’s been the ONLY success at PvP I’ve had yet…..YET…..

    Keep the Shiny Side Up,
    Pud
